The buildings, all of a similar style, flank the hillside from top to bottom, and a pedestrian thoroughfare running horizontally through the village is linked to the village square by a series of steep stepped pathways. The stone houses at the heart of the village, with their characteristic stone roofs, all face south-east and are connected by narrow alleyways. The characteristic building style has remained intact to this day.
