On Friday, Dec. 15, Saturday, Dec. 16 and Sunday, Dec. 17, from 5 p.m., the “Enchanted Nights of Corippo” await you with a three-day celebration with a visit to the crib, live music in the alleys, candlelight stories, fondue, mulled wine and Christmas tea. To reach Corippo best to rely on public transportation or the shuttle service made available starting from Lavertezzo in the Posse area or from the Bivio, between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.

The Enchanted Nights of Corippo is the brainchild of the parish and the Corippo Foundation to enhance the tradition of the nativity scene set up each year in the Church of the B.V. del Carmine and to bring to life the enchanted atmosphere of the entire village. For this reason, this year the nativity scene metaphorically and not only steps outside the church and invades the alleys with music and life for three days, from Friday, December 15 to Sunday, December 17. How? From 5:00 p.m. each day, from the square, after a steaming glass of hot tea or vin brûlé, offered by the Albergo diffuso, just follow the “thread of stars” that runs through the alleys, letting yourself be carried away by the music of Christmas concerts. The concerts will take place throughout the evening while the appointment with the stories will be at half past the hour. It is your choice whether to visit the large nativity scene full of details and magic before or after walking into the enchanted night of Corippo.

The musicians who will perform in concert and take turns during the three evenings are masters of music from the Centro Studi Musicali della Svizzera Italiana Lugano and ATM Locarno: Elia Squartini – drums, Diego Cassarino – trumpet, Luca Schiavo – guitar, Manuela Arcuri – vocals, Oscar Trabucchi – drums, Simone Varamo – piano while the “storytellers” will come to Corippo … directly from the past.

The event was made possible thanks to the willingness of the many friends of Corippo, to the crib volunteers Massimo and Matteo Gaggetta, Michele Maggini, Claudio Ranzoni, Claudio Scettrini, Rosanna and Luciano Tenconi, Cedric Titocci and many others, the Albergo Diffuso, the Verzasca Foundation, Verzasca Mobile, Natal in Val, the Patriziato of Corippo and the support of the following sponsors: Verzasca Municipality, Lake Maggiore and Valleys Tourist Organization, Verzasca SA, Raiffeisen Piano di Magadino, Axa main agency Luca Mozzetti Gordola, Regazzi and coop. The Enchanted Nights of Corippo is part of the large program of winter events promoted by the Municipality of Verzasca.

 

Corippo can be conveniently reached by Postbus from Tenero Station to the Bivio and a 15-minute walk. On this three-day event it is also possible to head to Verzasca Mobile for just the last leg.

The nativity scene in the Church of the B.V. del Carmine is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. until Jan. 31, 2024
